The Children, Young People and Families Officer will plan and deliver a programme of activities, interventions and support/information sessions to help visually impaired children, young people and their immediate family members, enabling them to enjoy a range of experiences that improve their life opportunities. This includes a comprehensive timetable of educational, leisure and social outings and activities ensuring most have tactile/sensory experiences. You will be able to plan, deliver and analyse the impact of the programme, and be able to carry out risk assessments and have an understanding of the needs of our members.

You will have experience of working with people with a range of disabilities, specifically children and young people. You will be able to participate in the programme, by providing information, support, coaching and guidance to the participants. The post holder must hold a full driving licence; a D1 minibus entitlement is desirable but not essential.

To apply for the position you should have previous experience of delivering educational, leisure and social outings and activities to children and young people, specifically with disabilities. Previous experience of supporting VIP’s and supervising volunteers is desirable. You should be able to form effective working relationships with both internal contacts and outside partner agencies. We are looking for someone with a passion for supporting our members to live enriched lives, and therefore you should be someone who is able to work innovatively and be an advocate for our services. The role has an element of reporting, budget management and administration, the ability to use Microsoft packages is essential.

To apply you must be able to travel within the Thames Valley area, with some driving outside of the area and have a flexible approach to the hours worked. This role includes some evening and weekend work, approximately 6 occasions per annum.

The successful applicant will require an enhanced DBS disclosure with barred list checks.
